Relactation Report!

I am super happy to report that 2.5 weeks into relactation, yesterday my total for the day was 2.25 ounces!!!

That is a really big deal!

I started 2.5 weeks ago with drops that wouldn’t even go into the pump flange. I have been pumping every 2-3 hours except for one 7 hour stretch at night, and i’ve been taking an insane amount of pills and herbal supplements…over 30 a day made up of domperidone (the best!), fenugreek, blessed thistle, prenatal and now spirulina.

Anyways, this is super exciting! Today i’m shooting for 3 ounces…but I don’t want to jinx it!

Blissfully Mommy

Hi there, I’m Tina and I created Blissfully Mommy as a place to share and celebrate the ups and downs of motherhood. In between those dirty diaper moments i’ve learned to find bliss in the little things like a yummy recipe, easy style tips, or a Pinterest binge! I hope this blog inspires you to cultivate your own version of mommy bliss.

Ohh thanks so much for posting about relactiation. I’m having a really hard time finding a schedule and support and all of that. I’m 21 with a four month old.

Hi Amanda! I hope I provided some info that will help. It can be very tough! I don’t know if you are trying to relactate through nursing or through pumping, but either way the best way to raise your milk supply and fit in enough sessions when you are at home is to take baby to bed with you and nurse/pump with them there. Usually they will be happy to snuggle up to mama and if you are pumping, the presence of baby will actually increase your production. If you are working and pumping, try looking at a picture of your baby while you pump. Good luck with everything!

Thank you for this! I am also trying to relactate for twins. After reading, I’m thinking I should up the amount of fennugreek capsules I take… Thanks for the info!
